Okay mate, from what I understand your able to log on to the server?
from there its kinda straight forward:

Mkay mate, so you got your account already made.
Just do this:
Open you buddy list and choose Accounts -> Manage Accounts or simply press ctrl+a in a Windows Environment

Now you should see all of your accounts storred on your computer:

Go press the Add button.

Now you should get the Add Account window, choose XMPP and enter all the infos, press click the Remember Password if you want to skip entering your password every time you want to log on.

Press add and pidgin should try and log on, if it doesnt, go to Manage Accounts, and check the XMPP account's Check Box, it needs to be checked.
At the buddies menu you should be able to see what happens:

It should say connecting for a few seconds, and then stop, showing nothing.
If a certificate window pops up, allow the certificate, if your unsure if you got this go to Tools-->Certificate Manager in the buddy window, it should look something like this:


If all this doesn't work, your most likely entering the wrong password / account name.
