New week - new day

It is currently Saturday. People are at the dorms, being lazy, studying, or away from school, doing whatever they do.

Re: New week - new day

Kaitlyn's dorm room was covered in shades of grey. Grey, and plain. So plain, in fact, that noone would believe it to be a girl's room.

The clock on Kaitlyn's bedside table was ringing. 'Kaitlyn' reached out her hand, and slapped the snooze. Then she rolled in bed for a moment. "Gimme a bit longer, mom, it's Saturday." Then she got up with a start. "Crap! Saturday! I forgot!" She blinked twice, for a moment. Okay, calm down. First thing's first. 'Kaitlyn' stuck two fingers in her mouth, and began to choke. Then she stopped, and pulled out a small rubbery thing. Right then. 'Kaitlyn' put the small rubbery piece in a small box in the drawer of her bedside table, then practiced her voice. "Do re mi fa so..." The voice coming out wasn't Kaitlyn's. It was one, much deeper, more toned... more masculine. 'Kaitlyn' pulled off her bedshirt and stared sullenly at her flat-as-a-piece-of-cardboard chest. She instinctively reached for the tissue to stuff her bra, then she remembered what she was doing, and stopped herself. 'Kaitlyn' took off the bra, and reached past the container for her contacts, and pt on a pair of glasses instead. She tied her hair in a ponytail, and put on a set of jeans, a shirt, and a hoodie, which hid her hair. As she went to the door, two thoughts floated across her mind; Nobody will ever recognize me without my makeup, or with these glasses, and I just hope Hitomi will understand.

A boy, about the age of sixteen, slid out the door, and down the hallways. If the grey hoodie he was wearing didn't cover his face, his mirrored glasses did a pretty good job. He slid out to the courtyard silently, like a wraith, successfully attracting noone's attention. The boy sat down at a bench, the only bench in the entire school parked directly under a cherry tree. He sat there, staring at his folded hands in silence, as though in meditation, and waited on the one he was to meet.

Re: New week - new day

Hitomi checked her phone as she was in the elevator. She was running a bit late, but not by too much. As the elevator opened, Hitomi looked out onto the courtyard, and to the bench where Kaitlyn had asked her to meet. As she walked up to it, she sat down next to some boy. She looked him over quickly, decided he was harmless, and continued to wait for Kaitlyn. Hitomi checked her phone again, she was in fact on time, but Kaitlyn was nowhere to be found.

Re: New week - new day

The boy sat silently next to Hitomi. Then, he looked up at her, his glasses reflecting her image. "You must be Hitomi. Kaitlyn asked me to meet you here." Before Hitomi could even respond, the boy continued his monologue. "Kaitlyn told me that she wanted to tell you her secret, today. Actually, she wanted to tell you here, and now." The boy looked up into the cherry tree. "She wanted to tell you her secret, but... she was too afraid to do it herself." Then the boy turned to Hitomi. "Oh, dear. I seem to have forgotten to introduce myself." The boy stood up, and took a bow, careful not to let any of his ponytail slip out from under his hood. "My name is Nathan." Then Nathan stood up straight, and reached his hand over his hood. "But you might know me better..." Nathan pulled off his hood, and loosed his ponytail, letting his hair fly back. "... as Kaitlyn."

Re: New week - new day

Hitomi looked over Kaitlyn, who was now a boy, and pondered the current situation.

"Hmm...Ok! Although you look better as a girl. Wanna go get some lunch?"

Hitomi took out her phone and started looking for some places to eat. "So, why did you decide to tell me?"

Re: New week - new day

Nathan was more surprised than he had expected Hitomi to be. "Uh..." Nathan tied back his hair, and pulled his hood up over it. "Well, I didn't decide to tell you. Kaitlyn did." Nathan rubbed his wrists anxiously. "I have split personality disorder, and Kaitlyn decided to tell you, well, I'm guessing because she thinks of you as a friend, and she wants you to know what you're getting into by being friends with her..."

Nathan tugged on Hitomi's sleeve. "Do you mind joining me for a walk up to my room? I need to get changed, and I am not very fond of being in public." They began to walk, at a slow pace.

Then Nathan began to talk to Hitomi. "I should probably explain it to you, entirely. My and Kaitlyn's situation, I mean. It used to just be me, but my life was hell. My mom was a hypochondriac, my dad was never home to help, and I had so few friends and so many enemies at school that life was just too hard on me. But one day, she just... happened. Suddenly, she existed, a person that helped me survive my hell. But it still was too much, when... my best friend, Sarah..." Nathan's voice faded, and a tear slid out from under his mirrored glasses.

He quickly wiped away the tear, and continued his speech. "After that, my life wasn't worth living. But Kaitlyn's was. She was the one living. I was just the body. The form. I'm just here as an emotional cushion for her. And her protector."

As Nathan and Hitomi stepped into the building, he asked her a somewhat peculiar question. "So, now that I've gotten my story out, do you have any interesting stories?"

Re: New week - new day

Hitomi looked down at Kaitlyn. "Yeah, I have a story. I was in love with a girl at school. We had an ongoing relationship, everything was grand. Then she cheated on me with some random guy."

She put her phone in her pocket, and focused on Kaitlyn. "I lost my temper, and pushed her through a glass door. She almost died. After that, I was taken out of school, and left Hawaii for Japan. Apparently this school was nice enough to overlook my past, let me study here, and try to make something of myself. Probably my parents had something to do with it though. Of course, I live here at the dorm instead of home. I don't speak to my parents as much, the accident being one thing, my being a lesbian another."

Hitomi held up her phone that she had pulled out of her pocket, and took a picture of Nathan. She then punched a few buttons, and put it away as quickly as it had appeared.

"One more thing. I like you Kaitlyn, but don't assume that I'm as nice as everyone thinks. I won't tell anyone your secret, and I really don't care about my past. I figure if people can't figure me out, then they are stupid. But if anything happens between us, I have no problem letting everyone know about you. But for now, go get dressed. I'm hungry, and I get cranky when I'm hungry."

Hitomi leaned up against the wall outside of Kaitlyn's room, and waited for her to get changed.

Re: New week - new day

Caroline woke up as soon as the first ray of sunlight hit her bed.
She sat up in the bed and enjoyed the warmth of the sun as it filled the room, happy her room was facing west allowing her to sleep in during weekends, she then reached for the bedside table, took up a remote control and with a single click her room was filled with music.
She then got on her feet and slowly dragging herself to the bathroom, she undressed and took a steaming hot shower lasting several minutes.
Afterwards she did her hair and got on some loose clothes enjoying she didn't have to wear a uniform today, she then went back to the bed, made it and sat on it and stared out the window.
Okay, its noon on a Saturday, what to do?
She then put on some shoes, unplugged her mp3-player from the speakers and headed for the door
Time for some coffee and brunch

Re: New week - new day

Nathan stepped into the room. "Oh, great. Kaitlyn, please don't do anything stupid..." He walked over to the bedside table, and pulled out the small rubber piece. He swallowed it, then quickly coughed, pressing on his throat. "Do re mi fa so..." It was Kaitlyn's voice again.

Nathan took out a small notebook next to the box that held the rubber piece. He quickly jotted down I told Hitomi. She told me she's lesbian, and that she almost offed her ex girlfriend back in Hawaii. He tapped the pen to his chin for a moment, then jotted down do NOT upset her. She warned me that if anything happens, our secret is blown. By the way, she's right outside, and waiting on you for lunch. Then he changed into more feminine clothes, a pair of loose jeans, and a green shirt, and stuffed the bra he put on, resisting his every urge to gag. Finally, he took off his glasses, and put in a pair of contacts, that tinted his brown eyes with a hint of green. Then he lay down in bed for a moment, and closed his eyes. Just a second passed.

Kaitlyn opened her eyes. Let's see. She sat up, and picked up the notebook, and began to read it. As her eyes went to the last words, Kaitlyn grabbed her lunchbox, walked through the door, and, still holding her notebook, looked at Hitomi. "Konnichiwa, Hitomi-chan! Nathan told me what just happened." She gestured to her notebook. "It's how we communicate, for the most part. And, don't worry, I'm really friendly, and Nathan, for the most part, is just a bodyguard more than anything." Kaitlyn threw her notebook into her room, deftly landing it on her bed, and closed and locked the door. Then she turned to Hitomi again. "Shall we get going? My treat this time!" The last part of her statement Kaitlyn said with a grin.

Re: New week - new day

Hitomi followed Kaitlyn to the food court, but was silent most of the way. When they finally got there, Hitomi was holding her forehead. She walked up to a food stand, and placed an order. "She is paying by the way", Hitomi said pointing at Kaitlyn.

After the food arrived and they had eaten, Hitomi spoke up. "So explain this to me. One, the voice, and two, the lunchbox."

Re: New week - new day

Kaitlyn looked at Hitomi silently, yet with a smile that conveyed a real sense of innocence. Then she started talking. "Well, the voice is a little trick, really." Kaitlyn put her finger in her mouth and began to gag. Then she pulled out a small rubber piece, held it up, and said, with Nathan's voice two simple words. "Voice modifier." After that, she swallowed it, and quickly coughed. "Do re mi fa... fa..." She rubbed her throat, trying to get the note right. "Do re mi fa so... There ya go... Anyways, it basically sticks to my vocal chords and pulls 'em out funny, and stuff, so I have my voice. It took Nathan forever to get that thing right." Kaitlyn giggled, then she stopped, and stared at the lunchbox.

"And, as for the lunchbox, all I really know is that it's from my... no, wait... Nathan and my, or... our best friend, Sarah. Nathan explained to me that she gave it to us before we left." Kaitlyn sat silently, thoughtfully, for all of a moment. Then she resumed talking. "Strange thing is, we haven't gotten any mail from her. No emails, no letters, nothing. Or if we have, Nathan's being mean and not letting me know. Honestly, I don't know why he would do that."

Kaitlyn sat there for a moment, then pulled up her lunchbox, and pulled out a pair of chocolate bars. She held one up to Hitomi, and asked, "Want one?"

Dessy kept sleeping in her room.

She didn't wanted to do a thing today, other than make some drawings, and only if she didn't felt lazy.

Hitomi looked at the offering and then at Kaitlyn, her answer clear without her needing to say a word. "I have some other things I need to do today, I will see you at school on Monday." Hitomi got up, excused herself and started to walk away, but stopped and turned toward Kaitlyn.

"Remember what I said. It's our little secret." She followed up her words with a grin that sent a chill up Kaitlyn's spine. It was not just an empty threat, and Kaitlyn understood this.

Re: New week - new day

Simon had been up since the crack of dawn. He didn't know what to do with himself. He was used to waking up and getting started on the day's chores, but here in Japan he didn't have any. At least he never had any problem getting to class on time.

To kill some time, Simon turned on his radio and decided to see if Japan had any interesting radio stations to listen to. After an hour of futilely flipping up and down the dial, he settled on the AFN station coming from a military base. My Japanese isn't quite up to par to follow along with most of what these announcers were saying. Oh well, at least I've got the world news in English.

While listening to the morning news, Simon took a quick shower and ate a light breakfast. While getting an early start on some homework, he decided to reflect on his time here so far. The events of the last week hadn't quite settled in his head. Wow, this place is even stranger than I'd expected. I guess that's the price of admission here, or more accurately, the lack of one. I grow up mostly sheltered, and then I come around and attend what must be one of the wackiest schools in Japan. Maybe that "karma" nonsense that Dad is always raving about actually has some weight to it.

After finishing up his homework, Simon gathered up several shopping bags, started pulling out small clay pots and bags of potting soil, and after an hour of pouring and measuring, he'd filled several pots. Now where'd I put those seeds? Was it this bag? No, this one? No...

...

That's right! I haven't bought them yet. I was in a hurry to get back to the dorms and couldn't figure out the names on the packets. Well, I've got the rest of the day to find that shop again and puzzle over the shelves again. Oh look, it's already almost noon. I should get lunch while I'm out as well.

Simon slipped his shoes on, jammed his translation dictionary into a back pocket, and headed out the door.

Re: New week - new day

Surprised she was able to get a decent cup of coffee Caroline exited the local coffee shop
hmm, I wonder what the others are doing today
she pulled up her phone and started texting
Hey Hitomi whatya doing? Don't take this the wrong way but I was wondering, do you want to hang out today? We could watch a movie, have lunch, or work on some homework if thats more your thing, I'd just rather not spend my weekend all by myself, and since I'm all new to this place I really don't know what to do
Caroline paused for a few moment, then pressed delete
... No, if they want to hang out let them make the first move
and with that she continued her walk down the street, enjoying her cup of coffee

Re: New week - new day

"Caroline..." Hearing her name, she looked around, and finally saw Hitomi, standing a few feet from her. "Hitomi! What are you doing here?"

Holding up her cup, she motioned to the coffee shop. "I needed some tea, so I came here to get some. I was thinking of going to look around at some of the shops in this place, wanna join me?"

Caroline nodded, and the pair walked off together, heading toward the shopping district.

(I have permission to control Caroline, if just a little)

Re: New week - new day

'So, where should we start?' Caroline asked as she glanced at the windows off the nearby clothes stores.
'Hmm, no offence but I don't think any of these stores hold anything quite your size, especially here in Japan, and I've been down these streets a few times already this past week and I really doubt they have refilled their stock already...
So...
Oh, I have an idea, lets go see a movie?
We could find a candy store for starters and then go see if we can locate a cinema actually running subtitled films?
Of course, its just an idea, but, what do you say?'

Re: New week - new day

Hitomi Looked over at Caroline, "They have stuff, you just gotta ask. But if you want to see a movie, thats fine. Although I would rather go in there."

She pointed across the mall to the Build-A-Bear shop. Caroline didn't look to thrilled, but Hitomi grabbed her hand and lead her into the shop. Hitomi was truly happy in this place, and quickly picked out a bear and got to work. About twenty minutes later, they both walked out, Hitomi holding two packages.

"Here, this is for you.", Hitomi said as she handed one of the bags to Caroline. A bit puzzled, she opened it up, and pulled out a little Wolf. She noticed a tag on it's collar, that read To Caroline, from your friend.

Re: New week - new day

"Oh thats... sweet" Caroline said as she examined the stuffed wolf, "You're really creative"
"But... ehm, don't you think we are a little too old for this? Toys and all" she was still smiling, but Hitomi could tell that Caroline was feeling uncomfortable with the situation
"OH don't take it the wrong way, I am truly happy for this" Caroline said holding up the wolf-toy "It's just, all this dressing up as maids last week, and the school uniforms and all, it's just so different from what I'm used to,
I feel like I'm being forced into being this little girl who people can just dress up and expect me to enjoy it, when I'm not...
now its weekend and I need to feel myself again.
So as much as I appreciate your gift, I'm sorry if I don't show it"
the smile on Caroline's face had all faded, she then shook her head
"Oh God, I could really use another cup of coffee right about now, you want one?"

Re: New week - new day

Kaitlyn strolled slowly throughout the mall. She wouldn't blow my cover, would she? Kaitlyn was obviously still worried about Hitomi's threat. "I really need a frap." Code for frappucino, as it were.

Just as she said that, her eye caught onto a Starbuck's. "Woah! They have a Starbuck's out here? Sweet..." She walked in, and shouted for her drink, in the Japanese she was so glad she knew. As the bartender slid it over to her, she took a long slurp, and paid the man. As she sipped out of the large cup, and took a seat at a chair facing the only doorway. I really hate this vice, I know I'm going to have a headache by tonight.

Re: New week - new day

Hitomi walked off toward the Starbucks that was across from where the pair were. She didn't say a word as she walked in front of Caroline, her bag in tow. As she entered, she noticed Kaitlyn, who noticed her at the same moment. Hitomi just looked at her, and continued inside. After ordering something, she turned towards the tables, and walked up to them. Hitomi then said out loud, "Nathan, is that you?" She waited to see if she would get a reply. Caroline asked who she was calling for, but Hitomi replied nonchalantly, "Oh, my mistake, I thought I saw someone I knew. We should go, don't want to mistake anyone for someone they aren't."

As the pair left, Hitomi turned towards Kaitlyn, and smiled. The kind of smile a predator makes before they kill something.
